Natural

So after taking a long break I am starting up the blog again. The topic for this week is "Natural."

The wonderful Everyday

I recently started a new little herb garden. It takes a good recipe to the next level with fresh herbs! I just have to unlock 4 deadbolts and go into my backyard for a little bit of wonderful....every day.

Halloween

This was from the Fall a couple years ago in Boise. We are definitely missing wearing hats and getting cozy in the fall.

Pumpkins

Pumpkins!!!  My favorite part of Halloween is getting a pumpkin.

A memory:  When I was a child our costumes always had masks.  They were just a hard, plastic front with eye holes cut out and an elastic going through to hold it on our heads.  I can still remember the smell of the plastic mask.

Horizontal

I took this photo in Minnesota at Lake Harriet. Jack and I went for a walk with Alan, Alicia and Norah and Alan and Alicia noticed the reflection of the clouds on the lake.

Vertical

Celery Sticks

This is for both vertical and horizontal...just turn your head for horizontal.

Bridge

This picture was taken from a balcony of the museum at the University of Minnesota.  We walked across this bridge over the Mississippi River. The upper deck and roof, lower deck and steel beams below give four layers of horizontal lines.  Nice city skyline in the distance.

Horizontal in Minneapolis

This is a picture in a parking lot at the University of Minnesota.  When I saw it, I thought of our assignment for Horizontal.

horizon

I took this picture around 6:45 this morning. Sometimes kids getting up super early isn't so bad. So in the picture I noticed that the more of the city I got the brighter the sky appeared. In some of the pictures you could also see the curve of the light from the unrisen sun.

Vertical

Yes this is a Photo.  I found a new setting on my camera called "Drawing".  These are some flowers on the bank of Lake Como in Minnesota where Alicia, Norah and I walked one day.

Remember this couch?

Remember when the babysitter came? I love this old blue couch. I remember how fun it was when mom and dad went out on dates. We set the blue couch up on one end so it was really tall, then we folded the pull out bed into a square, put someone inside the "elevator" and pushed it over! If that explanation didn't make sense.....Danny or Alicia can explain it better. :)
I also remembered something today that made me laugh....remember when we used to watch Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman?

Remember Fun Times

These boots were made for playing and they saw lots of action.  If these boots could talk I'm sure they would have happy things to say.  When I see these boots all I remember are good times.

I Remember

The fish reminds me of Grandma and Grandpa Hatch and living in Calgary.  G&G got this as a white elephant at a Christmas Party.  The man had welded it out of metal parts.  I really liked it and one time when G&G came to visit us in Boise, they brought it to us.  One of you put the penny in the eye (I don't remember who, -- fess up) and we couldn't get it out, so it has remained.  I have great memories of Grandma and Grandpa Hatch and Calgary

Light & Dark

Hue is a dimension that describes a color like this green background. Value is the amount of brightness or darkness (percentage of gray) within a hue. Different flashlights were used to change the value of this particular hue.

Santo Tomas, Mexico

I took this picture last year, but edited it this week.

Water and 5 Miles

Okay, I know I am really behind, sorry about that. This picture is for the water theme and the 5 miles from home. We made our journeys this summer with Alan's bike attached to the back of the car. We made it all the way from Minneapolis to Idaho without it raining on Alan's bike, and nearly all the way back, but about 5 miles from home, this was the view out the car window.

Church

The sun was shining behind the church and the street was actually really dark, but I think this turned out well.

5 miles from Home

My point in doing this topic was to get everyone out of their house and exploring things 5 miles away. Times Square was actually 5 miles away, but I didn't have a chance to run down there this week, but you can still see the building in this picture.
